A question for the ages...

Are people who drive BMWs compensating for bad childhoods? A lack of personality? Feelings of inadequacy?

Or are they under the assumption that German engineering will make up for their poor driving skills?

I think that in many cases, it's for all of the reasons you have suggested. :)

They're impoverished spiritually and intellectually. They've been told that having expensive stuff will make up for that. It's a lie, of course.

I once had a man say to me that he wished he could buy me a car to match my driving skills (he meant that in a complimentary way), but overall I would agree with Reya: no imagination, car=self, materialism rools.
