Space Oddity

Can someone please inform me why the hell this story is front page news for one day, let alone multiple days? So a person who happens to be an astronaut allegedly went batty and tried to kill her alleged love rival. Someone needs to tell CNN, Washington Post, and NASA that love triangles happen everywhere everyday and there's nothing special about being in space that made her do it.

It's one of the great tragedies and one of the great beauties of our lives as humans that emotions can trump rationality: desire, love, passion, jealousy, apeshit stalking and murder plotting -- all of that defies reason. Read your Lacan, NASA. Or maybe your Nietzsche.

I don't know. I suppose it sells papers.

Because it distracts from the truth about our the sorry state of our nation, the Libby trial, the Iraq war and the killing fields. Bush's run-up and lies on Iran.

Our troops, the Iraqis and Afghans, and our children deserve so much more. The media deserves to be held accountable for their own cover-ups all these years.

Oh c'mon you guys. Everyone loves weird human nature, especially criminal human nature. That's why murder mysteries, shows like Law & Order and other police shows are always popular.

Poor Anna Nicole Smith. That's all I have to say.

I'm glad you wrote about her from this perspective. I've seen so many pieces that portray the woman as an insane, vengeful, harridan. Nothing, of course, is said about the man's role in any of this. It is very human and very sad, and...a dynamic that has played throughout man's history.

Agreed with everyone who writes how the media uses this and the Anna Nicole Smith story to deflect attention away from the real issues at hand.
