Clues that you should call Child Protective Services

Yesterday, the Post reported on the murder of a six year old boy in his home. Now it appears the mother is going to be charged with the crime. Quite often in children's homicides, a family member is responsible. And quite often there are warning signs. Here's a good clue that you need to intervene:
Yesterday, relatives of Donmiguel's father, Donmiguel Sr., 34, were trying to come to grips with the killing and the relationship between the boy and his mother.

Patrick Sweeney, 51, Donmiguel's paternal grandfather, said that other relatives had described Barber as acting strangely in the last week. "She was complaining about voices and talking to the devil," Sweeney said.
Holy crap! Talking to the devil? What about that doesn't say disturbed to you, Grandpa?

Note to others: if you hear a parent relating their conversations with Beelzebub to you, grab the kids and run as fast as you can.

That is the most sensible advice I've heard all week.
Honestly, I wonder why there aren't higher qualifications for being a parent than "That there's my bellyfruit!"

sad sad story, she will end up in St. E's...whereas in Texas she would be hog tied and fried.
